What
Is An Medicare Insurance Lead?
By: Tony Jackson
In our day of light speed technology, an Insurance Lead may come
in many different forms.
First, lets look at the anatomy of the ever-increasing "Internet
Lead."
What is an Internet Lead. Quite simply, someone goes shopping on the internet
for information about some insurance coverage, such as a Medigap
policy.
I have a good friend who is about 55 years old. He told me that when he
goes shopping for Medicare, he will research his options via the web,
click a button and never talk to a human being. Such is the way the world
is going, especially for younger, net savvy boomers.
Contrary to what some think, this is not the end of face to face sales
and marketing. As long as there are people who want to research it all
themselves, there will also be people who want help. Many of them may
go to the internet for help, but they still want help.
One of the problems with many Internet generated insurance leads
is the greed of those who serve those leads up.
Many companies gather leads on their websites and then sell them to 6
(or more!) agents. Some of these companies even dare to call these leads
"exclusive." In my humble opinion, this is not only a disservice
to the agent, but also to the potential client. Agents ought to be diversified
sufficiently so as to offer what the client needs. In this way, competition
is not required.
Another type of Insurance
Lead is the Telemarketing Lead. Companies that offered this type of lead
are on their way out. The new Medicare law has made them obsolete (good
riddens).
The best Insurance Lead , the way I see it is the lead that you generate
through responsible and ethical marketing methods. This type of lead is
highly targeted to people's real needs, and will produce relationships
and referrals beyond you can think or imagine.
